The wait is over – college football season has finally arrived.
College football fans around the country have made it through more than 33 grueling weeks without their favorite team taking the field for 60 minutes of helmet-bashing, crowd-erupting fun. It’s time to break out your tailgating equipment and knock the dust off. You can go ahead and take that lucky shirt out of the closet too, and swear off fall weddings. It’s that time again – to be a college football fan.
And for those who love the sport, opening weekend provides plenty of excitement to fulfill the craving you’ve had since the Ohio State Buckeyes hoisted the trophy in January. Beyond the fact that Saturday night features a top-25 matchup between No. 20 Wisconsin and No. 3 Alabama, college football fans will be able to – after a full weekend of football – catch the defending champion Buckeyes take on Virginia Tech on a Monday night. Opening weekend – the good stuff – isn’t even over on Saturday. It doesn’t get much better than that.
Louisville will take on No. 6 Auburn in Atlanta to take the first shot at the Tigers’ new defense under Will Muschamp, while No. 15 Arizona State travels to Houston to do battle against Texas A&M. The Virginia Cavaliers even head to the City of Angels for an out of conference look at No. 13 UCLA.
It’s going to be fun. This is what you’ve all been waiting for. College football is back.
Here are our picks for the opening week of the 2015 college football season. Let us know what you think.
