FBS college football kicks off next week, so naturally, various analysts and personalities are making their picks to win the various power conferences and make the four-team College Football Playoff. Many have stuck with the tried-and-true programs like Ohio State, TCU, Baylor, and Alabama, but the guys from ESPN’s College GameDay all went out on limbs. Kirk Herbstreit stuck with his playoff of Ohio State, Arizona State, LSU, and Oklahoma.
His interesting picks might actually be more predictable than what Lee Corso and Desmond Howard came up with. Bold teams are College Football Playoff picks by the three analysts:
Kirk Herbstreit | Lee Corso | Desmond Howard | |
ACC Champion: | Georgia Tech | Florida State | Virginia Tech |
Big Ten Champion: | Ohio State | Ohio State | Michigan State |
Big 12 Champion: | Oklahoma | Baylor | TCU |
Pac-12 Champion: | Arizona State | Oregon | Stanford |
SEC Champion: | LSU | LSU | Texas A&M |
National Champion: | Ohio State | LSU | Stanford |

We don’t have things playing out quite this interestingly, but you never know with college football. No one predicted Ohio State to win it all after its loss to Virginia Tech last season, yet here we are.
