Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott burst onto the scene last year, rushing for 1,878 yards and 18 touchdowns in his sophomore season, helping to lead the Buckeyes to their eighth national championship. Next Tuesday, we'll get to know the OSU star a little better. ESPN has put together a feature on Elliott for its E:60 series, chronicling his life before college. It's called "The Rise of Ezekiel Elliott", and it airs on August 18 at 8 PM ET. Here's more, via ESPN:
How long does the birth of a star take? For Ezekiel Elliott, it took 85 yards—in 8.8 seconds. Coming into the first ever College Football Playoff last season, only those around the Ohio State football program knew of this precocious six foot running back. After his epic touchdown run through the heart of the south in the Sugar Bowl, everyone knew his name. And he wasn’t done yet… Winning the MVP in the National Championship game against Oregon turned him into a rock star and a Sullivan Award winner and Heisman Trophy candidate. He comes from a family of elite athletes, from a state that bleeds black and gold and not scarlet and gray. His path to greatness, paved by two strong willed parents, would include a painful decision, injury, and tragic loss. Tom Rinaldi takes you inside the Rise of Ezekiel Elliott in this E:60 profile, Tuesday, August 18th, 8pm ET.
Thursday, ESPN MediaZone released a one-minute trailer for the feature. It's sure to excite Ohio State fans.
