With the mid-season resignation of legendary coach Steve Spurrier, South Carolina is one of the most intriguing college football openings in the country. The Gamecocks are currently trailing Florida by 10, and ESPN's Ed Cunningham took some time during the broadcast to name his three top names for the job. Houston head coach Tom Herman and interim coach Shawn Elliott are reasonable enough candidates, but the third name he listed is incredibly surprising.

Bringing in Tressel to follow Spurrier would absolutely make a splash, but he seems relatively content as president at Youngstown State, and Tressel has a show-cause penalty until December 19, 2016. It seems like a very unlikely move.
