Farewell, D'Angelo: Ohio State Fans Express How Much They're Going To Miss The Star Freshman

Farewell, D'Angelo Russell.

The Ohio State star freshman played what it almost surely his final college game Saturday evening, as the No. 10-seeded Buckeyes fell to No. 2 seed Arizona in the NCAA Tournament's Third Round, 73-58. It was a tough last game for the dazzling guard, who had his worst performance of the season, shooting 3-for-19 from the field. He still managed to impress, though, tossing a couple of incredible passes.

This was likely Russell's ultimate contest in the Scarlet and Gray because he's projected to be a top-five pick in the upcoming NBA Draft. Players who are going to be drafted that highly typically don't come back to school. And while Russell has yet to comment on his future, many believe it's a foregone conclusion that he will be departing from Columbus this spring.

Ohio State fans realize this.

Ohio State isn't just losing Russell, as four seniors - Shannon Scott, Sam Thompson, Trey McDonald and Amir Williams - are also gone, but he will clearly be the toughest player to replace. The Buckeyes have now failed to reach the Sweet 16 in back-to-back seasons.

The 2015-16 season is an important one for Thad Matta, who has seen his once-elite program regress slightly over the past couple of years.
