Former Ohio State standout Devin Smith has been waived by the New York Jets.
Devin Smith's tenure in New York did not go as planned. A second-round pick of the New York Jets in 2015, Smith tore the ACL in his right knee late in his rookie season. The injury cut his first campaign short and limited him to only four games in his second season.
Smith then re-tore his ACL this off-season and is slated to miss the entire 2017 season. The Jets made his release official this afternoon.
In parts of two seasons, Smith made 10 receptions for 135 yards and one touchdown.
The 25-year-old entered the NFL with the reputation as a deep threat and big-play specialist. He recorded 931 yards and 12 touchdowns on only 33 receptions in his final year at OSU in 2014.
Now, he has a long road back to fulfilling his NFL dreams.
