Fred Hoiberg Is Being Mentioned As A Candidate For The Ohio State Job

Some big names are being mentioned for the Ohio State job.

Billy Donovan isn't the only NBA coach whose name is being mentioned in the Ohio State search.

Chicago Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg has surfaced as a potential candidate for the Buckeyes' opening.

Hoiberg, 44, was previously Iowa State's head coach before leaving for the NBA.

CBS Sports' Gary Parrish says Hoiberg is a "real candidate" for the OSU job.

The Chicago Sun-Times, though, reports that no contact has been made between Hoiberg and Ohio State - yet, anyway.

Multiple sources told the Sun-Times on Wednesday that there has been absolutely no contact made from Smith and the Buckeyes program with Hoiberg, who still has three years and $15 million left on his Bulls deal.

Hoiberg hasn't been great in the NBA, but he was awesome with the Cyclones, leading Iowa State to four straight NCAA Tournaments, including a 28-win, Sweet 16 season in 2014.
