Here's How Ohio State's Cardale Jones Has Handled Being Benched For J.T. Barrett

Saturday night, for the first time in 10 games, Cardale Jones will not start at quarterback for Ohio State. The redshirt junior has been benched in favor of J.T. Barrett, who started for the Buckeyes in 2014 before getting hurt against Michigan in the final contest of the regular season. Barrett will be the man under center against Rutgers Saturday.

How has Jones, the player who helped lead Urban Meyer's squad to the national title, handled being benched?

"About as well as you can," Meyer said today on his weekly radio call-in show on Columbus' 97.1 The Fan.

Meyer said yesterday that Ohio State is done with a two-quarterback system, so it doesn't appear that Jones will get any playing time going forward, save for blowouts.

He has to remain focused, though.

Ohio State and Rutgers are set to kick off at 8 p.m. E.T. Saturday. The game will be televised on ABC.
