Here's Why Thad Matta Is Out At Ohio State

Thad Matta is out at Ohio State, and recruiting seems to be the main reason.

Ohio State AD Gene Smith announced Monday afternoon that Thad Matta, who had been the school's men's basketball coach since 2004, would no longer be leading the program moving forward. Matta and the school "mutually agreed" that it was time for new leadership.

Smith, when asked about the timing of the decision, suggested that recruiting played a major role. Smith noted that while he felt confident about the direction of the program just a few months back, a great deal has changed since. Here's more:

Matta, who coached at Butler and Xavier before Ohio State, put together a very impressive run with the Buckeyes. In 13 season, he led the program to the nine NCAA Tournament appearances, including two Final Four appearances.
