The former Buckeye star found out via social media.
Devin Smith was cut by the New York Jets on Monday.
The former Ohio State star was a second-round pick by the Jets in the 2015 NFL Draft, but multiple injuries have derailed what many predicted would be a promising professional career.
Getting cut stinks, but it really stinks when you find out about it on social media.
Smith told SB Nation that he heard of the team's decision on Twitter.
"I found out on twitter," Smith said.
As of Tuesday morning, no Jets executive, coach, or teammate had called him.
Smith just shrugs that off. He has been through worse.
"All I can say is, it’s just weird," he says of the lack of Jets communication.
Smith has caught 10 passes for 135 yards and one touchdown since getting drafted. He's also made an impact on special teams.
The former Buckeye star is currently rehabbing from his second ACL tear since he came into the league.
