Alford is happy with his young running back.
Ohio State enters the season with Mike Weber as the No. 1 running back.
However, not far behind is freshman running back J.K. Dobbins. The former 4-star recruit came out of high school as the No. 2 all-purpose back in the country, according to 247Sports' Composite Rankings.
Running backs coach Tony Alford raved about Dobbins when speaking with reporters this week.
Here's what he had to say, per Kevin Noon of Rivals:
“I would say that in my 22 years, this guy has picked it up faster than anybody I have ever been around as a true freshman.
He’s picked it up, he understands the offense, the nuances of it very, very quickly and he plays hard, goes so hard in everything he does, which is part of the culture of this program.”
Weber and Dobbins could prove to be quite the tandem this season, especially under new offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson.
Buckeyes fans are in for an exciting season.
