J.T. Barrett's High School Coach Blasts Texas For Not Recruiting Him

Urban Meyer has built Ohio State into a truly national program. While the Buckeyes continue to focus on keeping the best players in talent-rich Ohio home, the program has also landed players from Georgia, Florida, New Jersey, Texas, Virginia, and other big football states. One of those players is J.T. Barrett, who comes from Wichita Falls, Texas. His home state's flagship program, the Texas Longhorns, has faced a ton of criticism for its inability to identify and land top quarterback talent in recent years, and according to Barrett's high school coach Marc Bindel, the Ohio State star is on that list of missed signal callers.

Cleveland.com caught up with Bindel to discuss his former quarterback:

“I was, at the time, a big Texas fan,” Bindel said. “I wasn’t really happy with the way (Barrett) got treated. I felt like they mislead him a little bit and they chose to go Tyrone Swoopes and not offer J.T. I don’t know if J.T. would have gone there had he not gotten offered, but Texas, I don’t feel like handled the situation the right way.

Charlie Strong took over Texas last off-season, and is in the process of turning things around, but Longhorn fans have to still be smarting by some of the names, like Barrett, Robert Griffin III, and Johnny Manziel, that the team has missed on recently.
