As most predicted, Joe Burrow took home tonight's Heisman Trophy. Back in August, virtually no one, outside of perhaps some gutsy fans taking up the 200/1 Vegas odds, thought he'd win the sport's biggest award.

The Heisman Trophy often seems predictable by the time the Saturday rolls around, but it is pretty surprising when taken from a wider view. Burrow was a middling quarterback last year, Kyler Murray was a transfer with little starting experience entering 2018, Baker Mayfield is a former walk-on, etc, etc.

That didn't stop Burrow from giving his very early prediction for next year. His choice might not surprise too much.

He famously transferred to LSU from Ohio State, where he played with some tremendous college quarterbacks. He didn't cross paths with Justin Fields, a transfer from Georgia to OSU, but he obviously had a chance to get to know him a bit this weekend.

Fields is entering his true junior season, and will be back at Ohio State next season, barring something shocking.

Burrow thinks Fields is the favorite for the award in 2020.

That should make Ohio State fans, who are still very high on Joe Burrow, an Ohio native who only left the school when he lost the job to Dwayne Haskins. In another year, Fields easily could've won the award this year, putting up incredible numbers for an undefeated team. He finished third this year, behind Burrow and Jalen Hurts. He clearly split plenty of votes with fourth place finisher and teammate Chase Young. OSU running back J.K. Dobbins also finished in the top 10 in voting. [
