Once again, Ohio State defeated Michigan handily this season. Michigan signee Joey Velazquez sees this tide shifting in that rivalry once he hits campus though.
Earlier this week, Velazquez, a three-star Michigan defensive back signee, was quoted saying that he doesn't "think anybody is going to get any gold pants any time soon.”
Ohio State players receive small gold pants pins for beating Michigan.
The Buckeyes have defeated the Wolverines every year since Urban Meyer took over the program in 2012, and 16 of the last 18 editions of The Game.
As you can imagine, the Buckeyes have not taken well to Velazquez's assertion.
OSU star defensive lineman Dre'Mont Jones tweeted back at Velazquez on Thursday.
Now, former Ohio State star quarterback J.T. Barrett has fired back at Joey Velazquez over his "gold pants" comments.
He said that the future Wolverines is probably "bitter" because Ohio State didn't recruit him.
That appears to be true, and more glaring given the fact that he is a Columbus native. Ohio State clearly knew about a Big Ten-level player in its back yard.
It's certainly hard to begrudge the young UM signee for being confident and brash. It would actually be nice if he can live up to the talk too, since the rivalry has been so one-sided for so long.
