Kirk Herbstreit Asked About QB Dwayne Haskins' Heisman Trophy Chances
Ohio State is off to a 4-0 start this season, thanks in large part to quarterback Dwayne Haskins. Haskins hasn't looked like a first-year starer at all.
Through four games, Haskins is completing 75.7 percent of his passes for 1,194 yards, 16 touchdowns and only one interception. He has also added a rushing touchdown.
Ohio State has a huge game on the horizon next weekend at Penn State. It will be a matchup between top-10 teams, and it is Penn State's "White Out" game. Beaver Stadium will be rocking.
The game will be broadcast on ABC. Kirk Herbstreit, himself a former Ohio State QB, should be on the call as part of ABC/ESPN's top broadcasting team.
Today, Herbstreit was asked about Haskins' Heisman chances. He hasn't quite garnered the attention of Tua Tagovailoa or Bryce Love, but that might be changing.
Herbstreit thinks Haskins is "right there" already and is poised to become one of the "main guys" with a strong performance Saturday.
If Haskins is able to help lead the Buckeyes to a win next weekend, he will do more than help his own Heisman chances. He'll put Ohio State in the driver's seat in the Big Ten East and keep them on track for the College Football Playoff.
Ohio State and Penn State will kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET Saturday on ABC.
We can't wait.
