Kirk Herbstreit Weighs In On Ohio State's First Half Performance Against USC

Kirk Herbstreit thinks a team could be out of the playoff.

Kirk Herbstreit is impressed with Ohio State's performance against USC thus far.

Ohio State has dominated USC thus far in the Cotton Bowl, taking a 24-7 lead into halftime. The Buckeyes have scored on two J.T. Barrett runs and a pick-six by Damon Webb on Trojans quarterback Sam Darnold. Kirk Herbstreit is taking notice.

Herbstreit, the star of ESPN's College GameDay each Saturday morning, is impressed with Ohio State's dominance at the line-of-scrimmage on both sides of the ball. He thinks that's the main reason that the Buckeyes lead by 17 points at the break.

USC has been held to just 31 rushing yards on 19 carries thus far. Ohio State has also forced two turnovers.

The Trojans are going to need to figure out a way to get Danold more time in the pocket if they're going to mount a comeback in the second half. We'll see what Ohio State's defensive line thinks about that plan.
