ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit has reacted to the College Football Playoff selection committee jumping LSU over Ohio State for the No. 1 overall seed.
The Buckeyes (13-0) entered the weekend with the top spot, though the Tigers (13-0) were ranked No. 1 when the field was announced. The selection committee hinted at LSU’s improved defensive play in the SEC Championship Game win over Georgia as a major reason for the jump.
Herbstreit agrees with the committee’s decision.
The ESPN analyst noted that Ohio State has been the most-consistent team all season long, but LSU’s resume it too impressive to ignore.
Said it last night after all the games were played and said it again this am before the final rankings. Although @OhioStateFB has been the most consistent team on both sides of the ball have to give @LSUfootball the #1 edge with wins over 4 teams in the top 13. Now it’s go time.
