Rivalry Week marks the final weekend of the college football regular season. Next week will be the conference championships.
The College Football Playoff is far from settled, even though Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame and Michigan all control their own destiny. It is widely expected that if all four win out, they will make the field.
Georgia is ranked fifth in the playoff rankings, and if the Bulldogs are able to beat Alabama in the SEC Championship Game next week, they will make the CFP. A loss would dash their playoff hopes.
Or would it? Incredibly, Kirk Herbstreit posed a scenario on College GameDay where the Bulldogs could make the field with two losses.
Herbstreit said if Ohio State beats Michigan and Georgia plays Alabama close, the Bulldogs could go to No. 4.
It seems like a two-loss Georgia would need Ohio State to lose to Northwestern and Oklahoma lose to Texas in their respective conference title games.
That is a lot of variables.
This sounds a lot like Herbie just stirring up some conversation more than anything rooted in reality.
