Having lost one quarterback to the NFL draft and another to the NCAA transfer portal, the Ohio State Buckeyes are looking a little thin at the position right now. But they could be delving into the transfer portal again to replenish the roster.

Texas A&M quarterback Nick Starkel is eyeing Ohio State and other schools as potential transfer destinations, according to MyAggieNation, after entering his name into the NCAA's transfer portal.

Duke, SMU and Arizona are also contenders, according to the report.

Would Ohio State be interested?

The Buckeyes would "love" to add him to their ranks, according to Dave Biddle of Bucknuts.

"Nick Starkel is definitely a quarterback that Ohio State would love to add to its 2019 squad," Bucknuts editor Dave Biddle told 247Sports on Thursday.

However, Biddle added that the interest might not be completely mutual Starkel is looking for a chance to start.

"It makes a lot of sense for the Buckeyes – who currently have just three scholarship QBs on their roster – but I’m not sure it makes as much sense for Starkel. Why? Because Georgia transfer Justin Fields is expected to be Ohio State’s starting quarterback as a sophomore in 2019 (if granted immediate eligibility by the NCAA as expected), and I know the coaching staff also likes redshirt freshman Matthew Baldwin."

Last year's starter at Ohio State, Dwayne Haskins, is heading to the NFL. His presumed successor, Tate Martell, ultimately decided to transfer to Miami after the team landed Justin Fields in a transfer.

The Buckeyes also lost four-star quarterback Dwan Mathis to Georgia during the Early Signing Period.

Fields is currently projected to be the team's starting quarterback in 2019.
