We've seen FOX Sports' Doug Gottlieb campaign for the Oklahoma State job twice. Now, another media member is (jokingly) after a head coaching position: The Ringer's Mark Titus.
Duquesne basketball fired head coach Jim Ferry after five years of .500 or worse ball, and has struggled to fill the opening. In comes Titus, who offered to become the Dukes' next head coach on Friday.
What was probably intended as a one-off job has spiraled into an impressive tongue-in-cheek campaign spanning two days.
Titus' vision for Duquesne? Fun play and rampant cheating.
A few hours after the original message, Titus overhauled his entire Twitter profile to show his newfound Duquesne pride.
As Friday night's games went on, Titus started to tweet about other things, like UCLA's loss to Kentucky and the possibility of Steve Alford taking the Indiana job. Of course, not everyone realizes he's actually a writer, which made for some pretty hilarious interactions with Hoosier fans.
Also, Wikipedia now has Titus listed as the Dukes' head coach, naturally. It has been unchanged for at least two hours.
Titus is also showing support for the school's other programs, like women's bowling.
At this point, I half-expect Titus to get an actual interview for the job. And with how the coaching search has gone, why not?
