On paper, Miami (OH) should be way overmatched against Ohio State in Columbus today. Don't tell RedHawk star Doug Costin that his team entered the game as a 38.5-point underdog.
Costin is one of the better players on Chuck Martin's roster. Last season, he was second-team All-MAC, with 52 tackles (10.5 TFL), six sacks, and two forced fumbles on the year.
He's made his presence felt early today. He recorded his first sack of the year on Justin Fields, and made sure to troll the Big Ten powerhouse in the process.
After taking down the star signal caller, he threw up the "O-H." I'm sure he won't have too many Buckeye fans responding with "I-O" if he keeps it up.
We got off to a pretty weird start in Columbus this afternoon. Miami actually got on the board first, recording a safety with a sack on Fields by Myles Reid on Ohio State's first drive. The RedHawks tacked on a field goal on its ensuing possession, but it has been all Buckeyes since that 5-0 start.
Three of Ohio State's next four possessions resulted in touchdowns.
Fields is off to another hot start, completing 7-of-8 passes for 115 yards and a touchdown strike to K.J. Hill. He also has a score on the ground, while J.K. Dobbins has added 51 rushing yards and a score of his own on seven carries.
The Buckeyes lead 21-5 early in the second quarter.
