Michigan senior defensive lineman Chase Winovich was the leader of the Wolverines’ “Revenge Tour” this year that included some big wins within the conference. That “Revenge Tour” came to a screeching halt in Columbus, though.
The Wolverines were blown out by Ohio State to end the regular season, preventing Jim Harbaugh’s team from reaching the Big Ten Championship Game and contending for a College Football Playoff spot.
Michigan has now lost to Ohio State seven games in a row.
Winovich was asked today about the loss to the Buckeyes and what he would tell recruits interested in both programs.
“We’re building a powerhouse,” he said.
Winovich also apparently called the loss to Ohio State a “mirage.”
Chase Winovich said any recruit who’s discouraged about coming to Michigan because of the Ohio State game should know it’s a mirage. “We’re building a powerhouse,” he said.

Unsurprisingly, Ohio State fans are reacting to Winovich’s comment like this:

I’ll tell you what’s a mirage. How overhyped both him and Gary are. Bosa had more sacks than both of them and played 3 games.

I was there for 62-39, it was real…and it was spectacular. Unlike the play of Mr. Winovich that day.

How embarrassing to lose to a mirage seven years in a row

Michigan will get a chance to end its season on a high note, as the Wolverines are taking on Florida in the Peach Bowl.
Harbaugh and Co. will get a chance to beat a non-Urban Meyer Ohio State team in 2019, too.
