As has been the case all season long, there are still 36 former Ohio State football players on NFL rosters. The only real changes have been that Brian Rolle was cut by the Eagles while the Patriots picked up Bobby Carpenter. Beyond these 36 on active rosters, there are also a some former Buckeyes on NFL practice squads. They are...

- Anderson Russel, Safety, Miami Dolphins
Russel played in two games for Washington in 2010, recording 2 solo tackles.

- Daniel Herron, Running Back, Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals drafted "Boom" in the 6th round of the 2012 NFL Draft.

- Thad Gibson, Linebacker, Tennessee Titans
Gibson was a 4th round pick in 2010 and has recorded 3 tackles and one forced fumble in his NFL career.

- Chimdi Chekwa, Cornerback, Oakland Raiders
As a rookie in 2011, Chekwa picked up 8 tackles and 2 pass deflections.

And now for my weekly update on those 36 Buckeyes who are on the official rosters...

Offensive Buckeye of the Week: (Tie)

Ted Ginn Jr. - 2 kick returns, 41 yds, 3 punt returns, 70 yds
and
Alex Boone - San Francisco totaled 175 rushing yards

Ted Ginn may not have technically been playing on offense, but he still did a lot to the 49ers in scoring position. The two kickoff returns for 41 yards are good, but nothing notable. It was Ginn's display returning punts last Thursday that really made him stand out. With three returns for 70 yards, including a long of 38, Ginn consistently set his team up with great field position.

Boone had another monster day helping lead the way for Frank Gore. Gore carried the ball only 16 times but tallied 131 yards on the ground, his highest total of the season. Boone has been playing extremely well as of late, having finally found his way into the starting lineup in 2012. At this point, he may have played his way right into the Pro-Bowl discussion.

I have to wonder if the 49ers would have won if not for Ohio State.

Defensive Buckeye of the Week:

Antoine Winfield - 11 tackles (10 solo), 1 sack

Winfield has been playing out of his mind this season. Always one of the best corners in the NFL, Antoine has stepped up his play at 35 years old to become one of the more dominate defenders in 2012. He had another superb week, picking up double digit tackles. Those tackles weren't his most important contribution, though. On a fourth-and-two play, Winfield came off his coverage and picked up a huge sack on Arizona quarterback John Skelton.
