Former Michigan sharpshooter Nik Stauskas compiled at 3-1 record against the rival Buckeyes in his two seasons on campus, but there apparently was a time when Ohio State head coach Thad Matta didn't know who he was. Monday, Stauskas, who now plays in the NBA for the Philadelphia 76ers, took to Instagram to post a photo of himself staring down Matta during their second game against each other back in 2013.
According to Stauskas, in an interview before the contest, Matta didn't know the Wolverines guard's name. Stauskas says that he took it personally.
For those wondering, yes, Stauskas did play the first time around against the Buckeyes. But in 23 minutes, he was held scoreless, so perhaps it isn't crazy that he wasn't on Matta's radar quite yet. In the game shown above, Stauskas played 43 minutes, scoring 11 points and pulling down six boards. We have a feeling that by the time Stauskas left following the 2014 season, Matta was well-aware of Stauskas' presence.
