The Ohio State Buckeyes are currently preparing for a big year of college football filled with new faces. But they're also preparing for the long-term future and are adding a new opponent to their schedule.
According to AStateNation, Ohio State is adding a home game against Arkansas State to their 2022 schedule.
Per the report, the Red Wolves will receive $1.8 million from the Buckeyes to play.
Arkansas State joins Notre Dame and Toledo on Ohio State's 2022 non-conference opponents slate.
With the 2022 non-conference opponents list complete, Ohio State now has a complete slate of non-conference opponents for each of the next four seasons.
Their 2019 non-conference schedule does not include any Power Five schools. However, they'll now have at least one Power Five school between 2020 and 2027.
As for Arkansas State, the Red Wolves may not be a Power Five school, but they've been among the best Group of Five schools for the past decade.
They've won at least a share of five of their last eight Sun Belt Conference titles and been to eight straight bowl games.
Much like Ohio State, they're not shying away from Power Five opponents in their future schedules as well. Among the teams they'll face in the future are Georgia, Michigan, Washington, and Iowa State.
