Ohio State's quarterback depth just took a big hit.
This morning, Ohio State confirmed that backup quarterback Joe Burrow is out indefinitely after undergoing surgery on a broken bone in his right (throwing) hand.
Burrow suffered the injury during Monday's practice.
Last season, Burrow connected on 22 of 28 passing attempts for 226 yards and two touchdowns in a reserve role.
In camp, Burrow was continuing to work as the team's second-string quarterback behind J.T. Barrett. Now, redshirt freshman Dwayne Haskins will slide into the backup role.
Behind Haskins, prized freshman Tate Martell is the No. 3 quarterback.
Ohio State begins its 2017 season next Thursday at Indiana.
