Earlier: Ohio State head coach Urban Meyer spoke to the media today, for the first time since starting quarterback J.T. Barrett was arrested and suspended for OVI. Barrett is suspended for the upcoming game against Minnesota, presumably returning Cardale Jones back into the starting role just one game after losing the job.

On top of the suspension, Meyer says that Barrett has forfeited his scholarship for one term after the arrest.

Meyer is also not committing to Barrett as the starter when he returns from suspension.

Barrett's status as Ohio State captain is also up in the air.

It can be argued that a one game suspension is too light for Barrett, but the loss of scholarship and a possible loss of team captaincy is pretty serious.
