Ohio State Fans Bothered By School's Admission On Michigan Game
Ohio State has lost to Michigan two years in a row.
The Wolverines, the reigning Big Ten champions, have taken it to Ryan Day's Buckeyes in back-to-back years. Sure, it's just one game out of 12 regular season contests, but it's the biggest game of the year - by far - on Ohio State's schedule.
Urban Meyer went 7-0 against Michigan, after all, consistently talking about how much that game matters, more than the rest.
But Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith recently attempted to downplay the significance of losing to Michigan, especially in 2022, when the Buckeyes still made the College Football Playoff and nearly upset No. 1 Georgia.
“It's so funny, everybody's so focused on just one game,” Smith told 11W. “We were basically one point away from being in the national championship game, and I think had we got that two points we needed to convert and ultimately played TCU – I feel confident we would have performed well and won a national championship – I'm not so sure about all this chatter.”
Ohio State fans, unsurprisingly, are not happy with that.
If Ohio State loses to Michigan for the third year in a row, will Gene Smith still be saying that?
We doubt it.
