As the Ohio State Buckeyes prepare for a postseason showdown against the Clemson Tigers, the program was dealt some unfortunate news regarding a former four-star recruit. After spending three seasons in Columbus, safety Brendon White is entering the NCAA transfer portal.
White had a breakout campaign in 2018 for the Buckeyes, totaling 46 tackles and an interception. He finished last year strong by winning the Rose Bowl’s Defensive Most Valuable Player.
Ohio State had high expectations for White entering this season. Not only did his playing time decrease over the course of the year, it reached the point where he wasn’t on the the team’s travel list.
The writing was on the wall for White, who is now ready to seek a new opportunity.
According to Ohio State reporter Austin Ward, White is officially listed in the transfer portal.
It’ll be interesting to see where White lands this offseason.
Can confirm that Ohio State junior Brendon White is now listed in the transfer portal. @BillLandis25 previously reported that, and the move that has been expected all week is now official.

White was the No. 3 athlete and No. 2 recruit from Ohio, per 247Sports. He should have plenty of suitors willing to offer him a scholarship.
The Buckeyes have to be upset that White didn’t fit into their plans in 2019, but the defense has been quite productive.
While Ohio State inches closer to its College Football Playoff matchup, White can officially search for his next program.
