Ohio State Freshman G D'Angelo Russell Declares For The NBA Draft

The news everyone has been assuming for weeks is now official: Ohio State freshman guard D'Angelo Russell will forgo the rest of his collegiate eligibility and declare for the NBA Draft.

Russell, a 6-foot-5, 180-pound guard, told ESPN.com of his decision on Wednesday.

The talented guard is expected to be a top-five pick.

"This was a hard decision because I knew I could come back and play with my teammates who I love and to be coached by Coach Thad Matta again would have been awesome, but at the same time I wanted to pursue my dream of playing in the NBA," Russell told ESPN.com on Wednesday. "I know what I am capable of and the sky's the limit with effort. I know I have a lot to work on."

Russell, a Louisville, Ky., native, was a first-team All-American for the Buckeyes in 2014-15.

The NBA Draft is set to occur on June 25.
