Ohio State QB Joe Burrow Has Been Cleared To Play

Ohio State back-up quarterback Joe Burrow is back from the broken hand he suffered and August and has been cleared to play.

During the spring, Burrow served as Ohio State's back-up to J.T. Barrett behind center. Unfortunately, suffered a broken hand on August 22, and has missed the start to the Buckeyes' season, ceding the second-string spot to Dwayne Haskins.

It is unclear whether Burrow will reclaim his spot behind Barrett, but he has been cleared to play.

Urban Meyer made the announcement this afternoon.

While every fan base has an interest in its team's back-up quarterback, Ohio State's situation has taken a very interesting turn in recent weeks. Barrett struggled at points against Indiana and was thoroughly outplayed by Baker Mayfield in Ohio State's 31-16 loss to Oklahoma. Since that Sooners loss, there have been some calls for one of the Buckeyes' other talented signal callers to step in.

With games against UNLV and Rutgers coming up over the next few weeks, Burrow and Haskins could very well get opportunities for extended playing time.
