Somehow, in the last five months, Ohio State has lost two Heisman Trophy candidates. Back in August, Buckeyes star quarterback Braxton Miller, who had led the team to 24 straight regular season victories from 2012-2013, re-injured his right shoulder and was ruled out for the season. Backup signal-caller J.T. Barrett stepped into the starting role and put together one of the most impressive freshman seasons in college football history. But in the second half of last week's rivalry contest against Michigan, he broke his ankle after being sandwiched by multiple Wolverines defenders.
So, Ohio State is on to its third-string quarterback - sophomore Cardale Jones. Saturday, ahead of the team's Big Ten title game against Wisconsin, the school tweeted out an eery photo of the players' three lockers. Miller's and Barrett's only have jerseys. Jones' has equipment too.
Can Jones get the job done? Will Ohio State make a case for inclusion in the College Football Playoff? We'll find out soon.
