Former Georgia five-star quarterback Justin Fields is new to Ohio State, as he’s only been with the Buckeyes for about a month, but it hasn’t taken him very long to learn about his team’s heated rivalry.
Fields, speaking to reporters for the first time since arriving at Ohio State, talked a little bit about the rivalry with Michigan.
The Ohio State-Michigan rivalry is arguably the biggest in college football and Fields will get to experience it for the first time this upcoming fall.
“I definitely knew it was a big rivalry, but coming here and actually seeing all the Ms crossed out, it’s definitely way bigger than I thought it would be,” Fields told reporters today. “I’ll definitely be excited for that upcoming game.”
Fields added that his teammates have told him some things about the rivalry, but he’s keeping that information private.
“That’s kind of private, but just know there’s a lot of hate for That Team Up North,” Fields said.
Fields is expected to be made eligible for the 2019 season, getting a waiver from the NCAA, though that’s not official yet.
If made eligible, Fields should start under center for the now Ryan Day-led Buckeyes in 2019.
