Ohio State vs. Cincinnati - Game Time, TV Schedule, Line, Preview, Predictions

Urban Meyer began his college football career at Cincinnati. The two-time national champion head coach was a walk-on for the Bearcats before beginning his coaching career. This Saturday, Meyer will host his former school in Columbus, as the Buckeyes will face Cincinnati at Ohio Stadium Saturday night.

Ohio State, 2-1 this season with its lone loss coming against Virginia Tech, had a bye week last Saturday following a blowout victory against Kent State. Cincinnati, meanwhile, is just 2-0, having a rare double bye to begin the 2014 season.

Which squad will take this informal battle of Ohio?

Date: Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014

Time: 6 p.m. E.T.

TV Channel: BTN

Location: Ohio Stadium, Columbus, Ohio

Betting line: Ohio State -15.5 (via Atlantis)

Prediction: Led by former top quarterback recruit Gunner Kiel, Cincinnati's offense has looked explosive so far this season. The Bearcats are averaging 44.5 points and 353 passing yards per game, totals that rank in the top 15 in the country. Ohio State has struggled to defend the pass, so Kiel and the Bearcats should have little difficulty exploiting the Buckeyes' secondary. Cincinnati will score some points in this one.

Ohio State is playing at home, though, and the Buckeyes' defensive line should do enough to make up for whatever is given up by the secondary. Meyer's offense looked formidable against Kent State and redshirt freshman J.T. Barrett should take another step in this contest. Expect a Buckeye victory, but they won't cover the 15-point spread.
