Michigan has drawn a lot of attention and publicity for Jim Harbaugh’s decision to move a portion of the Wolverines’ spring practices to Florida during spring break. It serves as a team-bonding experience, but more importantly benefits recruiting by allowing Michigan to further establish its brand in the Sunshine State.
Today, Ohio State AD Gene Smith held a press conference to announce the first international soccer match at Ohio Stadium between Real Madrid and Paris-St. Germain. During the presser, Smith was asked about the possibility of the Buckeyes holding spring practices out of state.
Here’s what he had to say.
Gene Smith on Ohio St. moving spring practice to Florida during break: “I would not be supportive of taking kids’ free time away from them.”

“Jump starting a program,” huh? We’re sure Harbaugh will have something to say about this on Twitter.
