The recruiting game is one that few programs are consistently successful at – Ohio State is one of those programs.
Ryan Day and the Buckeyes just wrangled in the fifth-best class in the 2020 cycle, headlined by three 5-star prospects. But fifth-place isn’t good enough for Day. Ohio State is gunning for the best class in the country for 2021.
The Buckeyes current 2021 class is ranked first in the nation, according to 247Sports. Of Ohio State’s 10 commits in the 2021 cycles, two are 5-stars, six are 4-stars and the remaining two commits are highly-rated 3-star prospects.
The nation is starting to take notice of what Day and the Buckeyes are capable of in the recruiting game. Steve Wiltfong – a major recruiting expert for 247Sports – has major praise for Ohio State’s efforts in the 2021 cycle. Here’s what he has to say:
“Is this the year the Big Ten power finishes No. 1? Currently sitting atop the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings, the Buckeyes see eight of their 10 commits inside the Top247 headlined by two in the top 10 in five-star defensive end Jack Sayer and offensive lineman Donovan Jackson,” Wiltfong wrote on 247Sports.
Will Ohio State finish with the top 2021 class? It certainly appears it’s heading that way.
The Buckeyes are trying to win their first National Championship since 2015. With recruits like ones in the 2021 class heading to Columbus, Day’s life is about to get much easier.
Ohio State is one the brink of something special.
