Update: ESPN's Joe Schad is reporting the reason for the suspensions. You can read about it here.
Earlier: Ohio State, voted No. 1 in the Amway Coaches' Poll Thursday morning, will be severely short-handed for its season-opener against Virginia Tech. This afternoon, the Buckeyes announced that four players - Joey Bosa, Dontre Wilson, Jalin Marshall and Corey Smith - will be suspended for the contest for a "violation of team rules."
While it's still unknown what exactly each player did to receive said suspensions, Bosa's father, John, told the Northeast Ohio Media Group that he agreeswith the school's decision. He praised head coach Urban Meyer for enforcing team rules, regardless of who breaks them.
Bosa's farther, John, confirmed the suspension with Northeast Ohio Media Group and agreed that the punishment was warranted for his son's actions.
"I fully support Ohio State and I fully support my son," John Bosa told Northeast Ohio Media Group. "Coach Meyer, to his character, has team rules and it doesn't matter who breaks them."
Ohio State suffered its only loss of the 2014 season to the Hokies. While the Buckeyes will surely still be favored, this doesn't help their cause.
