Until Ewers’ announcement, the Buckeyes’ quarterback battle had been a three-man race between C.J. Stroud, Jack Miller and Kyle McCord. Ewers threw a wrinkle into that race, but head coach Ryan Day still hasn’t decided on a starting quarterback.
Earlier this week, Day spoke with reporters about the quarterback battle. He didn’t give reporters even the slightest hint of who might be leading the quarterback competition thus far.
Here’s what he said, via 247Sports:
“First off, there’s been a lot of hard work that has been put in during these last 11 weeks of summer and certainly I know there’s been a lot of talk in the media,” Day said. “But this is really about this team. And this team has worked really, really hard this summer to create leadership and get ready to play in this first game.”
While Day isn’t ready to name a starter just yet, he knows all of the team’s quarterbacks are ready for camp.
“And so, they’re just excited to get back to work tomorrow (Wednesday) and I certainly understand that you have to ask those types of questions (about the pecking order at QB). But we’ll cross that bridge when we get there, but right now the focus is on this team and practice No. 1 tomorrow.”
Who will win the starting job?
