With Notre Dame getting trounced right now by Clemson, many fans are stating their case for why Ohio State should've been in the College Football Playoff. In an effort to discredit the Buckeyes, Shannon Sharpe made a careless mistake when talking about Dwayne Haskins.

Sharpe believes the committee was right for leaving Ohio State out of the playoff because of its loss to Purdue. However, the FS1 host was anything but accurate in his criticism of the Buckeyes.

Although it's fair to be critical over a 29-point loss to the Boilermakers, placing the blame on Haskins for the defeat is questionable.

Yet, Sharpe tweeted "Should've had 200 against Purdue when it mattered," in a reply to one of his follower's saying that Haskins would have decimated Clemson's defense.

Here is the big problem with Sharpe's response: Haskins had 470 passing yards against Purdue. Fans were quick to correct Sharpe on Twitter, and some even made negative comments about his takes on the Buckeyes.

At the end of the day, if the committee snubbed an undefeated Notre Dame team, then it probably would have sparked even more controversy from the sports world.

The Fighting Irish will try to validate their playoff status in the second half, as they currently trail by 20 points against the Tigers.

As for the Buckeyes, they'll face the Washington Huskies in the Rose Bowl on New Year's Day.
