Ohio State is one of the top two or three teams in the country. Rutgers is objectively one of the worst. The two teams will collide in New Jersey next weekend in one of the most one-sided games of the year.
Bettors are so confident in the Buckeyes’ ability to crush the Scarlet Knights that an absolutely massive betting line has been set.
According to the Asbury Park Press, Ohio State comes into the game as a 50.5-point favorite. That line comes with the expectation that superstar defensive end Chase Young won’t play.
But one would believe that Young not playing ultimately wouldn’t affect the spread too much.
It’s one of the biggest spreads for a game between FBS teams all year, let alone between to Power Five teams.
But the fact that the Scarlet Knights are such heavy underdogs in their own building speaks volumes to their differences at every conceivable level.
To put into perspective just how lopsided that betting line is, Alabama was a 55.5-point favorite against winless New Mexico State at home. That’s only a five point difference.
Rutgers has already fired now-former head coach Chris Ash. They’re 0-6 in the Big Ten and have lost 17 straight in-conference games.
This game will ultimately be a laugher in all likelihood. But it might be entertaining to see how lopsided it gets.
