A day after the inaugural College Football Playoff began, it’s safe to say the idea was a good one.
We got one great game – No. 4 Ohio State came from behind to top No. 1 Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, 42-35 – and one tremendous performance – No. 2 Oregon shellacked No. 3 Florida State, 59-20.
America seemed to enjoy the contests quite a bit. The College Football Playoff semifinal games, televised on ESPN, were the two most-watched shows in the history of cable TV.
Just in! New format. New records. Semifinals were 2 most-watched shows in cable TV history! Sugar: 28.3 mill ppl; Rose: 28.2 mill
