On Friday morning, Football Scoop reported that Urban Meyer spoke with Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith about his future with the program. According to the report, Meyer told Smith he plans to step down following the 2019 college football season.

The report went on to detail Ohio State's plans to offer Ryan Day a significant raise in the hopes of keeping him with the program to be the "coach in waiting."

On Friday afternoon, Gene Smith addressed the report saying, "Urban and I have not discussed that." Not long after, Meyer himself responded to the report.

Meyer's response: "No comment on that."

Earlier this season, Meyer said he plans to continue coaching the Buckeyes in 2019, but did not address his future with the team beyond that.

The report comes one day before the Buckeyes are scheduled to take on Northwestern in the Big Ten title game. Ohio State and Northwestern are slated for an 8:00 p.m. ET kickoff on FOX.
