Urban Meyer Asked To Name Leader In Ohio State's QB Battle

Urban Meyer joins SportsCenter.

Here's the latest on Ohio State's quarterback competition.

Ohio State's 2018 starting quarterback competition is going to be one of the most-intense in the country. Who's going to be the man who replaces J.T. Barrett?

There are three candidates. They are: 2017 backup Dwayne Haskins, 2016 backup Joe Burrow and the No. 2 dual-threat QB in the 2017 class, Tate Martell.

Most would assume that Haskins has the edge right now. He played well as the backup in 2017.

Ohio State probably doesn't beat Michigan in late November if Haskins didn't step up. He looked great while replacing an injured Barrett.

Meyer, though, refuses to name him the leader. He was asked about the battle earlier this week and didn't have much to say.

"I have no idea."

So there you go. It's still wide open.

Maybe that's just Meyer being coy, but he's probably being honest. He'll have three capable QBs competing for the job and for the fairest competition to take place, he can't give one player an early edge.
