Urban Meyer 2 Wins From Passing Bob Stoops For A College Football Record

Urban Meyer smiles as Ohio State has historic NFL Draft.

Urban Meyer.

Urban Meyer will pass Bob Stoops for a cool college football record, assuming Ohio State picks up two more wins this season.

With his Buckeyes at 5-0 this season, Urban Meyer has 159 career wins in his 15th season as head coach. He is just one behind Bob Stoops, who won 160 games during his first 15 years, all of which came at Oklahoma.

Ohio State does have a tricky stretch coming up. On Saturday, the Buckeyes travel to No. 8 Wisconsin, and the next week, play against Penn State at Beaver Stadium. At No. 2 in the country, and looking dominant so far this season, Urban Meyer's team will be favored pretty heavily in both games, and looks like a good bet to pass stoops by the end of October.

Meyer began his head coaching career at Bowling Green in 2001, where he spent two seasons. In 2003, he went to Utah, and in 2005, got the head coaching job at Florida. Through 14 full seasons, Urban Meyer wins an average of 11 games per year. He has only finished in single digit wins five times, and his worst season was 8-5 in his final season at Florida.

It goes without saying, but he can coach a little bit. Soon, a new Urban Meyer record will prove it even further.
