Urban Meyer Was 20 Minutes Late To His Weekly Radio Show, Blamed ESPN For His Tardiness

Every Thursday at 12 p.m. E.T. during the college football season, Urban Meyer does a call-in radio show on 97.1 The Fan in Columbus. He chats with host Jim Lachey and answers typically 10-15 questions from thrilled callers/Buckeye loyalists.

Meyer was late to the program today. About 20 minutes tardy, actually.

The 50-year-old coach blamed his delayed arrival to the show on ESPN.

Did ESPN provide him with a note? If not, that excuse won't hold up, Mr. Meyer.

It's likely a valid excuse, though. ESPN has been flooding Columbus with cameras and interviewers in anticipation of Ohio State's primetime showdown against Michigan State in East Lansing, Mich. Saturday night. ESPN's "College GameDay" program will be on-site for the game, so Meyer was probably filming a segment for the show.

Ohio State and Michigan State are set to kick off at 8 p.m. E.T Saturday. The game will be televised on ABC.
