D'Angelo Russell wore No. 0 at Ohio State because he felt that's the number of people who can guard him. It's a cocky statement, but we love it.
The former Buckeyes' star guard won't be wearing No. 0 with the Los Angeles Lakers, though. He'll be wearing No. 1. Why? Because he believes he should have been the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft (Karl-Anthony Towns went No. 1; Russell went No. 2 to L.A.).
That's what he told The Dan Patrick Show, anyway. He followed up that statement by saying he was just joking, but based on Russell's confidence, there's definitely some truth behind it. And that's just fine.
The discussion of the uniform number begins at about the 7:00 mark.
They're going to love this kid in Los Angeles.
