Video: Ohio State's Jae'Sean Tate Slaps Floor For Motivation While Nebraska Player Blows By Him

Jae'Sean Tate slaps the floor against Nebraska.

OSU Floor Slap

In basketball, a defender slapping the floor is done as a motivational tool. It sets the tone for the defense and lets the offense know it's going to have a rough time imposing its will and scoring.

Sometimes though, a floor slap doesn't turn out the way it was planned. Such was the case with Ohio State's Jae'Sean Tate today against Nebraska.

With Cornhusker guard Tai Webster dribbling the ball in the middle of the floor, Tate put his head down and slapped the floor enthusiastically. One small problem, however. While he was doing that, Webster had begun upcourt and was blowing past him into the heart of the defense.

That is a GIF that will get Tate laughed at for a while on the internet and he'll surely endure some ribbing from teammates as well. At least the Buckeyes won the game though, 65-62 to keep the team's NCAA Tournament hopes alive.
