Former Ohio State star Vonn Bell came through in the clutch.
The New Orleans Saints closed out a 31-26 NFC Wild Card victory over the Carolina Panthers thanks to a huge play by safety Vonn Bell.
Bell, one of several Buckeyes on the New Orleans roster, sacked Panthers quarterback Cam Newton on a 4th-and-23 play from the Saints 34-yard-line to seal the deal.
He looped through untouched on a blitz to bring down Newton.
Bell wasn't the only former OSU standout to have a big day for the Saints. Michael Thomas caught eight passes for 131 yards, while Ted Ginn Jr. hauled in four receptions for 115 yards and a touchdown. Marshon Lattimore also had a pair of tackles and two passes defensed.
The Saints advance to play the Minnesota Vikings in next week's Divisional Round.
