Alabama's loss really complicates things from a College Football Playoff perspective.
Ohio State took down rival Michigan on Saturday, keeping their hopes of a College Football Playoff berth alive in the process. But a result from later in the day actually might have hurt the Buckeyes' chances.
Alabama's loss to Auburn means the Crimson Tide won't be playing in the SEC title game. Alabama will finish its season with an 11-1 record and no conference title - kind of like Ohio State did last year.
Ohio State, if it beats Wisconsin next Saturday, will have a Big Ten title and an 11-2 record.
Which team do you put in a potential fourth slot - an 11-1 Alabama whose only loss came to Auburn or an 11-2 Ohio State team that won the Big Ten title but lost to both Iowa and Oklahoma?
According to FiveThirtyEight, if Ohio State wins out, it has a 59% chance to make it. Alabama has a 57% chance in that scenario.
Complicated, to say the least. Either way, Ohio State needs to beat Wisconsin first. They'll have a much better case if they take care of business.
