Michigan Commit Optimistic About 5-Star Recruit’s Upcoming Decision

Five-star defensive end Zach Harrison is one of the most coveted players in the country. Harrison’s decision is expected to come down to the Big Ten East’s three major powers of the moment: Ohio State, Penn State, and Michigan football.

The Ohio native has admitted to feeling pressure to stay home and become a Buckeye. However, that is far from set in stone.

Of the 26 predictions logged at 247Sports‘ crystal ball, 69-percent have him heading up to Michigan, with the remaining 31-percent sticking with Ohio State.

247’s composite rankings have him at No. 5 in the country. He is the top defensive end in the class of 2019, and the best player in Ohio.

A current Michigan football commit weighed in on Zach Harrison’s upcoming decision, and feels confident that he will be histeammate.

Wolverines Wire spoke to four-star running back Giles Jackson, who thinks he has a very good shot at ending up a Wolverine. He cited Harrison’s relationship with another future Michigan Man: three-star safety Joey Velazquez, a mutual friend of the two.

“(Harrison) likes the program a lot and we have a good future for him,” Jackson said. “I think we have a good shot.”

Jackson said Harrison keeps in close contact with Columbus (Ohio) St. Francis De Sales 2019 three-star safety Joey Velazquez – a Michigan commit.

“I think it could happen, honestly,” Jackson added. “(Harrison) talks to our other commit Joey mostly because they live so close.”

Harrison was initially set to make a choice in August, but delayed it until after he could visit all three schools this fall. It sounds like he should still have a pick set before the early signing period opens on December 19.
